CHARLOTTE (WTVD) -- Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera was raised in a military family, so he's got some pretty clearly defined thoughts on the notions of patriotism and protest.
Rivera isn't one to talk much about politics but the coach gave a pretty insightful answer Thursday when asked about the sporting fallout from HB2 in North Carolina.
"I decided that after the 1980 Olympic boycott, I didn't think it was fair," Rivera said. "We were using sports as pawns."
Want to see changes in the political landscape? Rivera has some plainspoken and pointed advice.
