Car club holds fundraiser for girls with rare disorder

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Wake Forest car club is pitching in to help a Wake County mother get a special van for her two daughters suffering from a rare disorder.
Saturday, the Wake Forest Mustangs held a fundraiser event for Ursula Thompson and her two daughters who desperately need a wheelchair-accessible van.
12-year-old Jaidah and 9-year-old Morgan were both born with a rare brain disorder, agenesis of the corpus callosum. Ursula takes care of the girls' every need.
She says as they get grow and get older, it's harder to to care for them. She has to lift them in and out of their minivan, which can be a struggle.
The car club held a poker run from Wake Forest to Wilmington with all the proceeds going towards the new van.
"We really don't care about if you have a Mustang or not. It is more about Ursula and what she needs," said Clark Webster, a club member.
"If we don't meet our goal today, it is not the end of the road," said Loretta Towsley of My Place Restaurant and Tavern in Wake Forest. "What we plan on doing from here, starting Monday, is going to out and rechallenging those businesses locally and rechallenging the people we know in other Mustang clubs and car clubs."
Ursula and her family are so thankful for all the support and the opportunity to give them freedom to do things as a family.
"The heart of people to come out and help someone that is a part of their community... it's just been a wonderful day," said Ursula.
