Fallen trees litter the streets as storms roll through NC
DURHAM (WTVD) -- After a break Thursday, our stormy summer pattern kicked back into high-gear Friday evening.
Fallen trees littered the streets as lightning lit up the sky across central North Carolina.
A large tree fell on a house in the 1200 block of Berkley Street in Durham. No one was injured, but the Red Cross has been asked to help the occupant.
A tree also fell on a home on Duke Street in Durham, taking power lines with it.
There were only a few severe thunderstorm warnings in effect, though much of the viewing area saw their share of showers.

A cluster of storms moved out of Wake County to the east, toward Nash, Wilson, and Franklin counties. These storms could have damaging winds and lots of lightning strikes. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning, so be sure to head inside if a storm is approaching.

Reports of fallen trees across the area created a traffic headache for motorists in Durham.
A large tree fell on a U-Haul truck on Fayetteville Road, trapping the driver inside. Read more here.
Eyewitnesses reported a tree fell onto Hope Valley Road, and drivers were told to take a different route while crews cleared the street. A viewer also sent in a picture of cars swerving to avoid a downed tree on East Cornwallis Road.
