Matthew Rivera, 27, is charged with second-degree kidnapping and perpetrating a hoax by using a fake bomb.
The incident happened Monday inside Priscilla's Lingerie on Sycamore Dairy Road. Police responded to a robbery call but soon realized the robber took an employee hostage.
Officers also thought the suspect had a bomb so they evacuated surrounding businesses.
Rivera eventually surrendered and released his hostage.
