Family fights for dog's life

RALEIGH According to state county officials, the dog's behavior qualifies it as dangerous.

The 40 lb. boxer named Honey is currently at the Wake County Animal Shelter. Two people say Honey bit them and a third person allegedly suffered a broken wrist while trying to jump out of the dog's way.

Honey's owner, Connie Inggs, said she and her family are appealing the dog's death sentence. Inggs said she didn't know the family pet was declared dangerous and never received any complaints about Honey.

County animal control Director Michael Williams said the case is unusual, and nothing will happen to Honey until an appeal is heard.
