Authorities investigate small plane crash

DARE COUNTY The crash happened near the Dare County Regional Airport near Manteo around 6:45 p.m.

Kathlene Bergen with the FAA's Southern Regional Operation Center says a Piper PA-32 flying from Monroe County was attempting a landing when it crashed short of the runway into a house.

There were people inside the home at the time the aircraft struck, but they were not injured.

The FAA says both the passengers in the aircraft apparently walked away from the incident, but were later transported to the hospital.
