According to an autopsy report released Thursday, Army nurse Holley Wimunc died from a gunshot wound to the head, and her body was dismembered. The report also shows the 24-year-old 2nd Lt. had been burned then wrapped in an air mattress before she was found in a shallow grave in July.

Her estranged husband, Marine Cpl. John Wimunc, is charged with first-degree murder, arson and conspiracy in her death.

Another Marine, Lance Cpl. Kyle Alden, is charged as an accessory. Both are scheduled to appear in Cumberland County court Jan. 27.

Division of Forest Resources personnel found Holley Wimunc's remains July 13 when they responded to a fire in a wooded area near Camp Lejeune.

Her apartment was found burned out three days before her body was discovered.

Holley Wimunc, who was from Dubuque, Iowa, was a maternity ward nurse at Fort Bragg.
