Temporary change to affect water's taste, color

DURHAM Beginning today, Durham will temporarily stop adding ammonia the its water supply during treatment. The process is required once a year by state and federal regulators.

That means, now through April 1, only chlorine will be used during the treatment process.

Customers could notice some changes in the taste and color of their water.

Other water providers, including Cary and Raleigh will make the same change during March.
