Man wanted for hit-and-run

The Rocky Mount Police Department is searching for a man they say was involved in a pedestrian hit-and-run.Police say they received a report that a 2008 or 2009 black Ford Escape was involved in two incidents Monday morning. The SUV has a luggage rack and damage to its left, front panel.

Police say the first incident happened at 8:46 a.m. A woman said she was walking by City Lake when a man, who was driving the Ford, tried to hit her.

The suspect then left the scene and drove to the U Brush Em Car Wash on north Church Street. At approximately 9:01 a.m., police say the man hit a woman who was standing in the parking lot. She was taken to Nash General Hospital.

Witnesses saw the suspect driving away from the car wash on Falls Road traveling towards the Edgecombe County side of the city. The suspect, who is described as a black male, is wanted for hit-and-run and assault by deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
