Bus carrying inmates crashes on I-95

LUMBERTON Police say the bus driver ran off the side of northbound I-95 early Tuesday morning.

The driver then drove back onto the interstate and hit the back of a tractor trailer.

Police say two prison guards and seven inmates were taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

Investigators said the driver, 49-year-old Jeff Jacobs, may have fallen asleep.

Jacobs is currently charged with improper lane change.
