The teen told police she went to the bathroom and felt something strange. She said she looked in the toilet and saw a baby.
The teen said once she saw the baby, she called family members, who were in the house, for help. Her boyfriend told police he also saw the baby in the toilet and then the teen called 911.
The teen and the child were transported to WakeMed where the baby died.
The incident is under investigation and police believe child abuse may have played a role in the baby's death. A search warrant was issued so that officers could recover evidence from the home.
It is not clear if anyone has been charged yet.
