Fairgoers urged to protect pigs from H1N1

RALEIGH The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services issued the warning Tuesday. Fair patrons will need to wash their hands to prevent the spread of H1N1 to pigs.

If you are exhibiting any flu-like symptoms, you should avoid the fair and stay away from any animal exhibits.

Veterinary officials also recommend that fair managers add a 6-foot barrier around any swine exhibits to further separate humans from animals.
