Police said the 17-year-old victim was walking down the street when two vehicles pulled up and shots were fired from the vehicles.
The teen was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.
Brockington is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
