Man charged with stabbing UNC student

CHAPEL HILL Stephen Howard, who is not a UNC student, is charged with stabbing Junior Taylor Inscoe in the leg. Inscoe said he was working security for Pi Kappa Alpha's Halloween party around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when he refused to let a group of men inside the house.

Inscoe, who is also a member of the fraternity, said the fraternity did not allow anyone inside the party they didn't recognize.

When he refused to let the group of guys in, one of the men stabbed him in the thigh and took off.

Inscoe was transported to UNC Hospitals and has since been released.

Hours later, officers received information that resulted in the arrest of Stephen James Howard. Howard is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

He received a $20,000 secured bond and was transported to the Orange County Jail.

Police had just cleared crowds from Franklin Street's annual Halloween block party when this incident happened.

Police say about 50,000 attended the Franklin Street bash.
