Sgt. Duane F. Bachesta, 26, of St. Clair, Ill., has been charged by the Onslow County Sheriff's Department with indecent liberties with a child and sexual battery.
Officials at Camp Lejeune said Bachesta is an imagery analyst assigned to 2nd Intelligence Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force. He joined the Marine Corps in March 2002 and was promoted to his current rank in September 2008.
Bachesta deployed to Afghanistan from March to November 2008 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The Marines say they are cooperating with the Onslow County Sheriff's Department in the investigation.
