The accident happened on Highway 117 near Woodview Drive.
The Highway Patrol says Deputy Daniel Truhan was responding to an accident. Another car - turning onto Hwy 117 - pulled out in front of him.
The driver of that car, Susan Watson, was injured, along with the deputy, but both are expected to be okay.
Watson is charged with failure to yield.
Both cars were totalled.
