Two overnight shootings, one ends in a standoff

DURHAM Police say it started at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday when two men were shot outside of apartments located on Commerce Street in Durham.

Authorities tell ABC11 that one of the men shot was treated and released, and that the other victim is in critical condition. Police have not released any names.

Just thirty minutes later, Police say they were called to another shooting on Roxboro Street near East Enterprise.

Officers say they found the woman involved in the shooting after she crashed her car into a fence on Roxboro Street while attempting to drive herself to the hospital.

She told police she was shot outside apartments located just a few blocks away on Cornwallis Road.

Durham police say a standoff took place at the apartment building on Cornwallis Road as a result of the shooting.

Officers forced residents out of their homes for several hours on Sunday while they waited to make their move. Once inside officers didn't find anyone else inside the apartments.

Durham police are still trying to determine if the overnight shooting on Commerce Street is connected to the standoff.
