Deputies have identified the people involved in a Sunday afternoon shooting in Apex that left one person dead on Sunday.

It happened around 4 p.m. at a home located in the 4000 block of Brook Cross Drive.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said Donna Evans was killed. Her husband John is in critical condition at WakeMed.

Harrison said the crime was not a random act and neighbors have no reason to worry about a shooter on the loose.

"I don't think there's any reason for you guys to be concerned whatsoever," he said.

Deputies say three people were in the house at the time of the shooting. The third person involved is being interviewed by the authorities.

Neighbors told ABC11 they were surprised something like this happened in their area.

"I just have questions and I just need to know what happened. But, no, this is a very quiet neighborhood. I don't worry about my safety at all," offered Marlene Bradley.

ABC11 has learned John Evans is a chef who owns a catering business in Cary called Chef John's.
