"When I got down there, Jack ... was laid out on the ground on the driveway trying to fight off the dogs," resident Clint Tate said. "I tried to get them off and when I did, the dogs attacked me, so I swung a stick I was carrying and hit one of the dogs on the nose and they ran off."
The dogs' owner, a Fort Bragg solider, told ABC11 he got the Rottweilers about a year ago. But residents say the dogs have been causing trouble for several months.
"This has been going on for months," Tate said. "The police have been called, Animal Control has been called."
"The other day I was out doing my yard, I looked around, there were two of them," resident Greta Hawthorne said.
Hawthorne says she had to shoo the dogs from her yard several times and says she is relieved they are gone, and the owner needs to be held accountable.
"I feel they should be responsible for the dogs because they are animals and we are supposedly taking care of them," she said.
Animal Control officers say the dogs will be impounded for 10 days and their owner is cited for not having his dogs' vaccination records, including rabies shots, up-to-date.
