Authorities it appears someone followed a 23-year-old soldier through a gate checkpoint and shot at his car as he travelled on Yadkin Rd.
The soldier was struck in the arm and taken to Womack Army Medical Center for treatment.
Fort Bragg Officials briefly put the post on lockdown overnight to search for the suspect.
Authorities are looking for the silver Chevy Impala involved in the shooting.
Neither the soldier's name or his condition were released by military investigators.
The case remains under investigation.
