The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that a man wanted in a triple shooting committed suicide.

Thirty-two-year-old Edward Gerald Fisher of 7326 Hyannis Drive, Fayetteville was found lying near a cemetery off Tabor Church Road at around 9:15 p.m. Monday. Detectives said he had a single gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators say they obtained warrants for Edwards' arrest late Monday afternoon on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly fired shots at three people who were guests at a party that took placed at an afterhours club early Sunday morning at 409 John B. Carter Road.

Witnesses say the shooting broke out after an altercation at the party. It’s unclear as to what happened after that and why the victims were found in a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds, in another location other than where the party was taking place.

The victims have been identified as 20-year old Mariella Nicole Rivas of 127 Grove View Terrace, 35-year old David Wayne Robinson of 1796 Gibson Street and 21-year old Xavier Kaynon Whitted of 2931 Orbie Circle, all of Fayetteville. All three remain in serious condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Fisher's body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for autopsy.
