Damaging winds hit the Triangle

DURHAM In the 1000 block of Buchanan Boulevard in Durham, a tree was uprooted after strong winds tackled it, snapping power lines, and hitting two homes underneath.

"We all screamed to get everybody out of the house," said Christy Rawlins.

"I don't know what it looks like inside, but as I was running out of the living room, the window popped behind me," said Michael Bacon.

Rawlins suffered minor injuries, and firefighters shut down the street for a short time. Meanwhile, trees were also reported down on Fawn off Hillendale, Rosewood Circle, Wilma Street, and Southwest Durham Drive in Durham, as well as Powell Road in Wake County, Apex Parkway in Apex, Legends Road in Garner, and North Main Street in Wake Forest.

A number of power outages were reported as well.
