When they arrived, they found Matthew Wesley Moore, 24, seriously injured - and called EMS to transport him to WakeMed.
Ted D. Hand, 27, was detained at the scene and transported to be interviewed by detectives.
He was eventually charged with attempted murder.
Police say the crime was not random.
