Famous, and soon to be famous, music acts will no longer grace the stage at The Brewery on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. After nearly three decades in business, the club was torn down Monday.

For more than 28 years, the club has hosted names like Sheryl Crow, The Georgia Satellites, and Black Flag. Dozens of lesser-known groups have played there too.

But the club's owners leased the space at 3009 Hillsborough, and the building - and two others nearby - have come down to make way for a new mixed use development near the campus of NC State that will be anchored by a Kerr Drug store.
