Historic home goes up in flames

JOHNSTON COUNTY Flames were seen shooting from the 6,000 square foot home on South Third Street in Smithfield around 3 a.m.

Several people living inside the home, including an 85-year-old woman, were able to make it out safely.

It is unclear what sparked the blaze. Authorities are investigating.
