No one was injured, but a daycare in the Wake Forest-Rolesville and the surrounding area was on lockdown as a precaution.
Sheriff Donnie Harrison says the incident began at the teen's Wake Forest home near Trayer Road where the teen fired shots inside and then went outside and fired a shotgun. He then ran into the woods and ended up in the Wake Forest-Rolesville area.
At that time, Harrison says the teen fired shots in the woods near a daycare center.
Sources who know the teen tell ABC11 Eyewitness News he is "troubled" and has done this before.
Authorities do not why the teen fired the weapon, but the incident remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
