The decision came after hours of deliberation.
Residents, who live near the proposed site, say they are happy about the outcome and had reservations concerning the landfill.
Some were worried about vermin, disease, and decreased property value.
The company that was behind the landfill handed out brochures and residents to residents on previous occasions, in an attempt to explain how tightly regulated the landfill would operate. The company also said the landfill would not stink up the neighborhood or contaminate the groundwater.
