Cumberland school bus driver charged

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

Troopers say 50-year-old Eva Williams of Dunn ran into the back of a stopped vehicle while taking students to Cape Fear High School and Mac Williams Middle School.

No one was hurt.

The Fayetteville Observer reported (http://bit.ly/pkpifv) Williams is also charged with reckless driving and failing to reduce speed.

Assistant school superintendent Tim Kinlaw says Williams recently had a medical procedure that required her to use oxygen and she was not doing so in the bus. Kinlaw says the longer she went without the oxygen, the more it affected her judgment.

The trooper says Williams had taken cough medicine containing codeine.
