Authorities warning residents about scam

CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Authorities said unsuspecting victims are being contacted by telephone or e-mail about the alleged easy ways to make money.

They said the fictitious companies require victims to complete surveys and in exchange, they will receive payment after they pay a processing fee for the expected payment.

Local banks have determined that the payments the victims received via money grams were counterfeit, which required the victims to pay for reimbursements.

Authorities warn residents that if they are approached or contacted by someone who is offering a deal that "seems too good to be true," to ignore it.
