Police spot suspects cruising in 4 stolen cars

RALEIGH

Wednesday night, Raleigh Police spotted four vehicles that were stolen from a dealership earlier in the day, cruising around the city.

A Honda Accord, 2007 Lexus RX 350, 2005 Honda Pilot and 2005 Lexus RX 330 were stolen from Mitchell Mill Motors on Forestville Road. All were silver in color.

The vehicles were spotted driving together on Raleigh Boulevard, so police followed them. The drivers then took off in separate directions.

One of the stolen vehicles, the 2005 Honda Pilot, went down Brentwood Road and lost control. He knocked down a power pole and slammed into a minivan parked in the driveway of a home. The impact caused the minivan to overturn in the front yard.

The driver, 24-year-old Ricky Butler, ran from the vehicle. Police said two women inside the SUV claimed they were kidnapped, but were later charged with giving a false statement. They were taken to WakeMed with minor injuries.

Butler was captured a few blocks away near Capital Boulevard. He will likely to be charged with driving a stolen vehicle.

Police said another driver they followed in the stolen Honda Accord was also arrested. The driver, 16-year-old Kendrick Lewis was able to give them information, which led police to the stolen 2007 Lexus RX 350. He also had property on him that was from a home burglary committed that same night.

Police are still looking for two of the drivers and the 2005 Lexus RX 330.
