Authorities say thieves have been targeting locked cars in town parks. Since September 10 cars have been broken in to.
The thieves have entered the cars by smashing windows and taking things in plain sight, like phones, GPS units and purses.
The Town of Cary Police Department is reminding drivers to not leave valuables in plain view, park in well-lit areas and always roll up car windows and lock the doors.
They also urge them to immediately call 911 if confronted or victimized.
