Terror suspect accused of murder-for-hire plot

RALEIGH

Hysen Sherifi was sentenced to 45 years in prison Jan. 13 for plotting with other men to attack the Quantico U.S. Marine Corps base and foreign targets.

Now, according to documents unsealed this week by the federal government, Sherifi told a confidential informant that he wanted three witnesses who testified against him at trial murdered and beheaded and he wanted photographs as evidence.

Sherifi's brother, Shkumbin Sherifi, and a woman are charged in the case. The trio allegedly held meetings at the Wilmington jail where Hysen is being held.

According to the FBI, the plan was to pay $5,000 for each killing. Money for the first hit was paid to an FBI informant.
