Students struck by car in Apex

APEX, N.C.

It happened around 3:20 p.m. on Hunter Street near the intersection of Hinton Street.

Witnesses said, two siblings, an 11-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl, ran across the street during the school's dismissal. They were struck by a car in the eastbound lane being driven by 19-year-old Amanda Parker, of Apex.

The pair suffered only cuts and bruises. At last report, they were in stable condition at WakeMed Raleigh.

Police say the children were not crossing at the designated school crosswalk for AV Baucom Elementary School, which is located near the crash scene.

Police said Parker will not face charges and that speed was not a factor in the accident.
