Man sought in bank robbery

Fayetteville Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man who police said robbed the Capital Bank on 225 Green Street on Friday.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a man walked into the bank and handed the clerk a note demanding money. He said he had a weapon. The suspect left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man is described as being white and approximately 50-years-old. He is said to be around five-foot-eight inches or five-foot-ten inches and is of medium build.

He has gray hair with a receding hairline and a moustache.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue and white striped shirt and blue jeans.

Police said they believe the suspect is trying to leave the area.
