DWI checkpoint nets several arrests

PRINCETON, N.C.

Multiple law enforcement agencies set up the checkpoint in Princeton on Highway 70, near the Wayne and Johnston county line.

Police said during the stops, they discovered 22 lbs. of cocaine wrapped in 10 kilo-sized bricks. The cocaine has a street value of over $1 million.

The two suspects in possession of the cocaine were taken to the Johnston County Jail and charged with three counts of trafficking cocaine. They are both being held under a $5 million bond.

Authorities were also able to arrest two fugitives during the checkpoint.

Police said 17 people were charged with not having an operator's license, while 11 people were driving with a revoked license.

Among the other charges issued throughout the night were DWI, expired registration, inspection violation, providing fictitious information and registration to officer, child not restrained, no insurance, and possession of moonshine.
