Solomon Butler, 24, will face charges of first-degree murder, assault on a law enforcement officer, and other charges once he's released from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Police say the sister of 36-year-old Omar Walker found him dead inside a home on Ruby Road last Wednesday.
About an hour into their investigation, police say Butler approached the crime scene and started shooting.
Butler was shot by an officer working the scene.
