Former daycare worker charged with child abuse

CARY, N.C.

The allegations came after a toddler's parents called police and said that a worker, Stephanie White, hurt their two year old.

According to the state and Cary police, White dragged the two year old across a room by the arm in July at the Little Pros Academy in East Cary.

The state says that White handled the child roughly and dragged the toddler across the room, even after the two year old went limp. White was charged with misdemeanor child abuse and arrested Wednesday after an investigation.

A spokesperson for the daycare issued a statement, which read in part, "A situation took place in one of our classroom (at the East Cary location) where a teacher picked up a child in a way that is not consistent with our standards of safety and quality.  As a result we immediately ended our relationship with this employee.  We have fully cooperated with all governing agencies (The Division of Child Development and The Cary Police). ABC11 uncovered that this isn't the first incident reported at this daycare. The Little Pros Academy has also been cited for striking a child's hands, and for giving a child the wrong breast milk.
