Police said after the collision, Morris over-corrected to the left and lost control. Her GMC rolled several times and landed on the roof of a Mazda Protégé - headed north - driven by 19-year-old Guillermo Gonzalez.

Gonzalez died of his injuries shortly after he was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Morris is in intensive care with serious injuries.

Police said there were three children in Morris' SUV aged 11, 3, and 2. The small children were in safety seats. All three were treated and released from the hospital.

Mercer - the driver of the Ford - was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
