Cumberland County detectives asking for help identifying suspect

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C.

On Feb. 20, authorities said the suspect went to a house in the 6400 block of Smithfield Road in Wade just before noon, but was unable to get inside.

The homeowner, who was away at the time, was notified via a remote home security system that sent a photo of the suspect to the homeowner's cell phone.

When the suspect could not get into the home, authorities said he caused at least $500 in damages to a security camera and doors.

The suspect was described as a younger African American male. He was seen in surveillance photos wearing a black jacket.

Authorities said they believe he was with two other suspects who waited for him in a silver colored four-door Chevrolet sedan.

Anyone who can help identify the suspect, or knows more information about the case, is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500.
