Tech support scam targets Netflix users

March 4, 2014 12:00:00 AM PST
Security experts are warning Netflix users of a phishing scam circulating the internet.

Users could see a phony webpage that looks like the Netflix login page.

When you enter your account info, the scam site claims the account is suspended because of unusual activity, then gives you a fake customer service number.

When the user calls that number, a rep recommends a download of Netflix support software, which is actually remote login software that gives scammers complete access to your computer.

The scammers may also ask for copies of photo IDs, or even credit cards.
