Cary neighborhood bids farewell to mailman

CARY

Residents feel waiting for the mail will never be the same.

For the past 21 years, Joe Bradshaw has served the Lochmere subdivision in Cary faithfully.

On Thursday, residents could not wait for the mail to arrive. Bradshaw bumped up his retirement from May to the last day of January.

"I hate to be leaving but sometimes you have to move along and do other things, so thank you very much," Bradshaw said.

For Bradshaw and the neighborhood it is not just about the mail, it is about the community.

It is Bradshaw and his familiar voice telling people what jobs are open, looking out for their kids, sharing moments as life moves on in the neighborhood.

"He's just been a blessing to our family, we're going to miss him," resident, Asa McCarthy said.
