Search continues for missing Durham woman

DURHAM

Family members are expressing concern over Christina's relationship with her fiancé. Her grandmother Carolyn Timberlake says, "I just keep strong. I just pray and I just put it in the Lord's hands. That she is alright."

Christina was last seen last Thursday by her fiancé leaving the Red Roof Inn off Guess Road. She was driving her white 2002 Honda Accord (four-door). The vehicle has NC Registration Plate WWS-2205.

Her grandmother Carolyn Timberland reported her missing a day before she was due to get married. Timberland says she believes her relationship is at the heart of the disappearance. Carolyn says she was engaged to a convicted sex offender.

"I talked to him about two weeks ago and I let him knew that I felt like he was abusing her," Carolyn said. "He said he wasn't abusing her. I said you are controlling. He said he wasn't controlling. I said it seems to me you do because she gets real afraid."

Carolyn says Christina never told her about the wedding and despite her belief, Christina may have run away.

Durham Police investigator, Corporal Nicolas Cloninger says they're taking this case seriously. "This one's more alarming because it is a mother. She was supposed to be married this weekend. And she hasn't made contact with any of her relatives or her own son."

Police says they've interviewed Christina's fiancé twice and that he's been cooperative. As the search for the missing mother continues, Carolyn is sending a message from Christina's five-year-old son. "He misses Mom and Chris we wish that you would call and check on him because he really miss you," Carolyn said.

The child is staying with Carolyn.

Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Jack Cates or Cpl. Nicholas Cloninger at 560-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 683-1200.
