Officer R.K. Shepard was responding to a break-in in progress call at 7 p.m. on Highway 70 near Pleasant Dr.
Shepard turned around on the highway to respond to the call with his lights and siren activated, when he collided with another vehicle in the same lane of travel.
Occupants of both vehicles were transported to area hospitals. Officer Shepard was treated and released.
The other injuries were minor. The investigation is ongoing.
