Fredy Humberto Pacheco, 36, turned himself into police Wednesday. He has been charged with one count of attempted kidnapping.
The red vehicle recovered Tuesday evening near Miami Boulevard and Holloway Street has been identified as the vehicle used in the incident.
The girl told police both incidents happened near Landon and Hardee streets as she walked to school. A male driving a bright red car has pulled up to her and told her to get in the car with him. The girl refused and ran away.
The child's mother, who didn't want to be identified by name, told Eyewitness News how her daughter is doing since her frightening experience. "Since February 14th my daughter is having nightmares. She cannot go to sleep. She don't want to go out. She wants me to stay when I need to go to work. So he made our life difficult. So that's why he gonna spend time in jail," she said.
Prosecutors say Pacheco isn't cooperating and won't tell them where he's from. Immigration officials have been called to assist with the investigation.
Pacheco has been charged with attempted first degree kidnapping in connection with a January 16 case in Wellons Village. He has also been charged with attempted kidnapping in connection with the incident last Thursday and with resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer. These charges are in addition to the attempted kidnapping charge filed Wednesday.
