A car hit Carlos Bigler, III right in front of his parents in Monday afternoon in Castalia.
Highway Patrol officials said bad brakes and bad tires on 44-year-old Chirely Gay's car lead to the accident.
When Gay couldn't stop in time to avoid hitting the bus, authorities say she went around it - hitting Bigler.
Gay is facing several charges including driving with a revoked license, driving without insurance and passing a stopped school bus.
Authorities say she also had drug paraphernalia in the car, but wasn't on any drugs at the time of the incident.
