The woman told Duke and Durham Police it happened around 7:30 p.m. near the parking lot of the Civitan Building, behind the John Hope Franklin Center at Elba Street and Trent Drive.
The woman told police she was returning to her car when she was approached by a man, forced to the ground and sexually assaulted.
The woman then drove to her home to call police.
The suspect was wearing a yellow puffy jacket.
