Kenneth Puckett, 44, Pura Montalvan, 36, both of Spring Lake are charged with writing checks from the account of Puckett's deceased father, Dennie Puckett.
Investigators say the checks were written between October 30, 2007 and November 4, 2007. Dennie Puckett died on October 11, 2007.
Witnesses say Puckett and Montalvan didn't have the authority to write the checks, as another sibling was acting as executor of the deceased's estate.
Investigators say the checks, which were written by both Puckett and Montalvan, totaled close to 700 dollars, and were written to Bank of America of Fayetteville and a local pizza restaurant.
Both suspects have been charged with obtaining property by false pretense and were released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under $1000 secured bond each.
