Students march against violence

CHAPEL HILL

This year's event took on a special meaning following /*Eve Carson*/'s /*murder*/.

About 150 people marched in front of Wilson Library for the annual /*Take Back the Night*/ rally.

After the speeches, marchers held a moment of silence to honor Carson, the student body president killed earlier this month. Organizers also placed stars on the banister leading up to the library.

They say the stars represent the 67 reported rapes and sexual assaults on campus in the last year-and-a-half.

Take Back the Night is held nationwide as a symbolic reclaiming of the night from fear and violence.
