Wake Forest Road, Beltline exits reopen

A gas leak caused by construction forced officials to close Wake Forest Road in Raleigh in both directions.

It happened just south of the Beltline around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Northbound traffic on Wake Forest Road was originally diverted onto Six Forks Road. The northbound traffic flow was restored around 3 p.m.

Traffic flow in all directions was restored on Wake Forest Road, and both Beltline exit ramps reopened just after 5 p.m..

Pavement repairs are underway on the southbound lanes, and they should be reopened later today.

The Applebees and Blockbusters stores on Wake Forest Road wereevacuated. No injuries have been reported.
