Neighbors say they can't believe the driver, 22-year-old Thomas O'Conner, suffered only minor injuries. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree.
/*Durham*/ authorities say O'Conner was drunk and driving 80 miles an hour along Buchanan Street where the posted speed limit is 30.
"It sounded like a big truck went by and dropped something," Sarah Harden, Buchanan Street resident, said. "So i looked out my bedroom window."
O'Conner is charged with /*DWI*/ and was treated then released from the hospital.
